Together with her friend Sandra Leano, Christine moved to Laurel Canyon,
and lived in the Log Cabin, once owned by old-time cowboy star Tom Mix,
then a commune led by Carl Franzoni, before Frank Zappa arrived there in 1968.
Christine became the nanny of Frank Zappa’s children Dweezil and Moon Unit.

She also landed on the cover of the Hot Rats album, and was a member of the GTO’s

This song is about Christine

And this song. Christine was a dancer in Vito Paulekas’ Laurel Canyon Dance Company.

The song 2401 by John Mayall is referring to them.

There’s a hero living at 2401 and all around
A family circus in the sun
Got his Mothers working
While you’re having fun

Trying to change the system
Many things that must be done
Where did Moon go?
Better call at GTO

According to ZappaWikiJawaka she is mentioned in Joni Mitchell’s Ladies of the Canyon.
But on Joni Mitchell’s site the three ladies are: Estrella Berosini, Trina Robbins and Annie Burden.

Trina wears her wampum beads
She fills her drawing book with line
Sewing lace on widows’ weeds
And filigree on leaf and vine
Vine and leaf are filigree
And her coat’s a secondhand one
Trimmed in antique luxury
She is a lady of the canyon.

She has dated Alice Cooper and Todd Rundgren.
Later Christine moved to Cohasset, Massachusetts,
renting accommodation from Jonathan Richman.
Her final years she had to wear a body cast,
because of her spine. She died there of an
heroin overdose in November 5, 1972.

  1. The lyrics you quote from ladies of the Canyon were about Trina Robbins, who moved to San Francisco and became a part of the underground cartoonists scene. She still produces work, and a web search will easily find her.
