Christa Päffgen was born in Germany, October, 16 1938.

Very young she started working as a seamstress.
At the age of 16, she was discovered by photographer
Herbert Tobias. Tobias came up with the name Nico,
after his ex-boyfriend, filmmaker Nikos Papatakis.
Soon she was modelling in Italy and France.
In 1959 she appeared in La Dolce Vita. Here with Alain Delon.
